When I download MAME roms and try to play them with my emulator (MAME32 latest version) it says on some games files are missing.

Why do they host them on the internet if they don't work what's going on and how come some work?

Rember this:
Some game require a version of that rom (like if it was GAME104.06 you may have to have GAME103.06 to run it) They add to one another you have to have the basic block to build on.
Some Games need BIOS roms easiest thing to do is down load them all.
Some Games require CHD filed the hardest thing to find and aquire.

This web sight has the BIOS and many roms for you just click and they download. http://www.efmovie.com/mame.htm

I recomend these sights for roms:
http://www.romnation.net/srv/roms/mame.html
http://www.rom-world.com/

For CHD file you will need:
