i recently visited my mother & her goldfish has these ugly bumps on it,i think its about 3 years old,is it dying? what causes this?

What did the bumps look like? Grains of salt, white cottony spots, tumors or something else. There is also a type of goldfish called a pearlscale that looks like a golfball, the scales look like tons of bumps.

It probably will soon die.

If it is the only fish in the tank, ok, but if it is with others and they
do not have the bumps, remove the goldfish to a separate tank.

it could be a pearlscale goldfish or it could be a fish with tumors or growths on it, you didn't give us very much info
