I can give you a link that deals with hard drive problems.
Some hard drive problems can be easily fixed yourself by using easily available tools. I found the info at http://fixit.in useful

first you unplug the laptop and remove the battery
then find the spot where the old hardrive is in the laptop
usaly has 1 or 2 screws remove them pull out the harddrive
most have a caddy with 4 screws pay attention as the new hardrive must be mounted exactly as the old
slide the new drive in the slot, replace the screws,install the battery plug it in and get ready tp reinstall your os
