and supposedly believe in the Golden Rule, actually backstab, play politics, judge, gossip, and screw over their neighbors worse than anyone else? Then they often knowingly twist and distort the truth to make themselves look righteous?

I am drawing this from a 36 year period living in the bible belt.

I don't think that anyone can live by the Golden Rule. They just do what most people do - pretend to be someone they're not so people would admire them. They're only lying to themselves, because in the end it doesn't matter what others think, but what kind of person you are.

And do they even believe in the bible, because if they think they're gonna go to heaven that way...

All people are hypocrites to one extent or another. It's just more obvious when someone continually touts that they are a christian. Living in the Bible Belt, we all know what good christians are supposed to be like, and I've seen many instances where people used business names like "Christian Motors" to better rip off the customers.

If I did all those same things and told you that I followed the High Lord Yhtrghtrr, you wouldn't know if I was being a hypocrite or not, because you don't know what the articles of my faith are.

I believe we can agree without disagreeing. Your question is half- way the truth. There are some people who are like that..No bones about it. However there are some or a lot of Christians who aren't. Christians are NOT perfect but, they are forgiven, if they ask Jesus to take away their sins.

Not all of them are like that. I've known some amazing Christians.
Besides, keep in mind that Christians are still only human, so of course they'll do stupid, horrible things.

It appears to me that you are the one doing the judging. I will pray for you that you too will someday find a personal relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
