Do I need to remove the manifold to get to the plugs?
How do I drain the oil in the motor since I can not really put anyhting under the motor to catch the oil, since it is in a boat.

TheSpark Plugs are easily removed there underneath the manifold there on an angle but a 13/16 std.plug socket and a short extension removes them easily ...So Theres no reason to remove the manifolds..
As for the oil it should be pumped out I use a vacuume canister that sucks it out thru the dipstick tube ... these are available at most marine suppliers... Good Luck

Looks like you have a problem on your hands. Regarding the plugs is it the manifold or is it just a heat shield that needs removed? There are suction pumps available to suck oil out of the dipstick, so that should help some, but you still may have some clean up to do when you change the oil filter, place some rags down to catch what spills.

you just don,t have the right tools. I had a mustang that to get the back drivers side plug out, I had to put the spark plug socket on and use a wrench to turn it. you may have to buy a oil pump to get the oil out, I,m not sure on that. they do make a pump just for that. hope my advice helps.

Yeah, that is a tough one! It is easier to go in from the bottom. Damn car makers!
