My goldfish doesn't seem to have any physical illness, but has been very listless recently: half the time just floating around near the top, with its tail fins drooping down. It is eating ok and moves well enough when prompted, but when not disturbed barely moves.

I have been feeding her (although the other fish is eating most of the food), and have been cleaning the tank regularly, and have been putting in Aquasafe liquid to de-chlorinate it. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Goldfish do much better in cooler water, they just don't care for warmer water. Try adding aquarium salt to your tank, I have found this has worked well for listless goldfish when I was in the pet industry. With warmer water there is less oxygen in the tank for them also. For your current fish, I would add a few ice cubes to drop the water temprature slowly for them and add some aquarium salt. You should notice an improvement in their behavior with the cooler water. Ideally, I wouldn't keep goldfish in water over 70 F.

I found this out on the net. Without seeing the fish or knowing if it has changed color, bloated, or doing any funny things it is hard to pinpoint what it may be. I hope you figure it out

Goldfish can live for over 20 years, the oldest on record was around 43.

Test your water, some fish can be more sensitve to off params then others. If the ammonia or nitrite are above zero then do a water change to bring them down. If the nitrate is above 40 then do a water change too but anything between 10-20 is perfect.

Goldfish desire water it is below eighty ranges. you opt for to boost the water temperature via fact which you suspect which will preclude your goldfish from getting ick? i'm uncertain if which will artwork. you're meant to handle the water with chemical compounds each month to keep away from ick and parasites. you besides could could desire to maintain your filter out sparkling, and you like sufficient area on your fish. One goldfish desires 10 gallons of water. you will have problems with ick and parasites in case you do not have a great sufficient tank. you would be able to could desire to get a better tank, or you would be able to could desire to do away with some fish.

if you cant see anything wrong with the fish, maybe its okay
sometimes they do need to rest, just keep the water real clean an add some aquarium salt to make it feel better

Any fish in a small tank is bound to give up on life sooner or later.
Try the above suggestions, but don't be surprised if they don't work.

goldfish do not have a lengthy life span.. perhaps it's time to say goodbye to your wet friend... you can also try a larger tank/bowl to see if that helps.
