I had repeated c-section on Sep.10, I was bleeding/spotting for about two weeks then stopped. Last week it started again, I called my doctor and he told me it's propably my first period (even when I am exlusively breastfeeding my baby?!) and it should stop within few days. It did stop tuesday. Thursday the area around my scar got swollen again, I called again they told me if the actual scar is ok theres nothing wrong and just take it easy. Yesterday I started bleeding again (looks like period, bot c'mon - twice in a week??). Dont tell me to call my doc, of course I WILL, but it's sunday people, so tommorrow. In the meantime - I was wondering - anybody has any experiences like this? What could it be? (My first c-section the bleeding was over after a week and that was it. It was 3 yrs ago by the way). Thanks for any insight, I'm little freak out....

My daughter was born in May by c-section. I bled for just over 5 weeks after she was born then 3 weeks after the bleeding stopped i started bleeding again, that lasted a full week, had a week off then another full week of bleeding, had another week off and then yet another full week of bleeding and now i'm not bleeding at all, not had any for about 2 months now. I'm breastfeeding so just been told it's the hormones and body settling down after no bleeding during pregnancy.
If you're really worried see you're health visitor or GP first thing Monday.

Hi-I have 2 c-sections, I spotted for 3 to 4 weeks both times. I also breastfed and never had periods. I did get pregnant while breastfeeding and not have a period in between pregnancies. You just never know. My first c-section my scar did get infected. I've learned that being swollen is not what you should worry about. Does the area look red and irritated? Do you have a fever? I would gently massage the area and see if it gets tender. I'd still call the doc tomorrow just to let them know, better to be safe.....Hope some of this helped!

I'm in total agreeance with Debbie above. I also had a repeated C-Section (my first one was a breeze) however, my second was hell! Really because I wasn't resting enough and letting my body heal, I had a one year old to chase after and take care of. As for the bleeding, I breastfed and I don't remember when I had my period, but it was early and mine lasted two weeks!!!!!!!!!
It takes time for your body to go back to normal. So for today (Sunday) just try your best not to get up too much. I know that's a really hard thing to do, but your c-section area sounds like it needs to rest. Throw a bag of frozen veggies on the area and relax if you can!

I was told after my c-section that breast feeding can stimulate your period. When I was breast feeding, every time I fed my daughter, I would spot - it was a goodly amount but only around the times when I was breast feeding, not all day.
I don't remember any problems like that with my scar, although it did itch alot. Maybe you strained something around your scar. If it is swollen, try putting some ice on it. That will help stop swelling and may reduce it.
Blessed be,
Gypsy

after my first c-section i bled for an additional 6 months, i thought something was wrong after the first month but my doctor told me that it was normal because u bleed after your pregnancy (c-section) and plus i had depo-shot the day i left the hospital so that made me bleed even longer, also my cycle was trying to get in order, but i was perfectly fine, after my second c-section i bled for an additional 4 1/2 weeks that was normal too, so i think you are ok. The doctor also advised not to overdue yourself after a pregnancy because that may also cause additional bleeding because of all the pressure you are putting on yourself, also no heavy lifting that causes bleeding more too.

I haven't had a c section but I do know that breastfeeding does not stop your period nor does it work as a contraceptive. These are old wives tales which are not true. Your doctor should know what he/she is talking about and considering it was so long ago without any repeat repercussions I wouldn't worry about it too much.

not to worry I had 3 c-sections that happened to me after my second one but everything was fine. As for the swelling you might be doing to much. Take it easy and lay down more even if you don't feel you need to take a nap when baby goes down. Don't forget you are probably running after a three year old this time which you weren't the first time. Pamper your self a bit but do see your doctor on Monday. Good luck and congrats on the new baby

I would see your doctor, my c section was almost 21 years ago but I don't remember having any problems, other than when they took the staples out!

I've had two c. sections and after both I bled for a couple of weeks. If your scar is intact and not oozing then it sounds fine.
