Any tom waits fans??a little help please....?

I am doing a 5 min biographical project for radio production.i am doing it on tom waits.i am gonna break his career into 3 parts(3 decades).can people help me out and give me words they would describe his career in.split up into 70s,80s and 90s to present.cheers
