Let me explain. In 1976 I was on holiday in Stornoway on the Island of Lewis and some friends and I went out sea fishing. I was unfortunate enough to lose a silver signet ring over the side iof the boat.

Now I am working on an oil rig, 40 miles off the mouth of the river Congo. We had fried fish for our evening meal yesterday, and I sliced into my portion of fish with hardly a thought. Imagine my disappointment when I found the ring was not there!! Are coincidences not nearly as common as we have always been led to believe?

I live for coincidence...
a family friend found a Saint Christopher medal in a sole...I have heard several stories of people loosing rings at sea, or in large bodies of water. Maybe you paid the ferryman with the silver ring
