It is impossible for objects with mass to reach light speed. The energy necessary would be infinite. Even in accelerators like CERN it is only small particles (protons) that are accelerated to almost light speed. They use as much energy as a whole city just for a few protons.

according to the laws of physics, it's a physical impossibility for an object with mass to reach the speed of light.
i don't think it would be ever possible to accelerate an object so that it would have the same velocity as light. although this is the case, some things like high-speed electrons do come close to the speed of light, but doesn't reach it.

Light-speed is 186,000 miles per second in a vacuum (like space). I do not think we have reached this speed with a human even in those secret government experiments (just a guess). But some day we will. There is no boundary that the human mind can not surpass.

If e = mc^2 is true, then all the energy of an object has to be converted to kinetic energy to reach this speed. Even your mass has to be converted to kinetic energy. You may be going the speed of light, but there's no more of you left.
