Unfortunately, we don't always aknowledge and learn. I've been "religious" most of my life, but only recently have I truly come to "understand" what it is all about, and I'm 34 years old. I'm sure I actually drove away many potential Christians because of my behavior before recent times. I've learned from some of my mistakes. Other mistakes I've had to make a couple times before I learned from them. Acknowledging them? Sometimes. I try to now, but fear and guilt sometimes prevent me from doing it. Healing your soul? Only God can do that. Search him out, learn from him, and he will draw closer to you. That pain and guilt you may feel in your soul will all begin to ease as you accept Christ as your Saviour, know that He loves you and know that all is forgiven.

I hope not. I am not religious.. would that mean that I don't learn from my mistakes?? I can't see at all what religion has to do with it. Either you take a good look at what you did, take responsibility for it and try to do better next time, or you don't, and blame someone else or hide behind the standards of your minister/priest/imam/other church leader. Not that their standards may be all wrong, but to me it's better to really make a choice of your own. If there is a god, he (or she!) will like you using your own brains and be personally responsible for your actions.
(I am afraid I don't get your question about your soul.. why does it need healing? If it's regrets for past behavior that is hurting you: take a good look at what went wrong, decide you will do better next time and don't keep dwelling on your faults and mistakes. It does not help in any way.)
good luck to you

IF YOU WANT TO HEAL YOU SOUL - Firstly try your very best to put right what has happened. If that is impossible (and it is probably not) I would say no- you do not have to have a realign to put mistakes right, but if you feel you need to pray - then do, in face what ever helps you to feel better. It is a pity you did not put down what has hurt your feelings, so very much, as I feel may-be we could have all helped you much more.

People learn from their mistakes because they are wise. it has little to do with religion. Additionally, they know that mistakes are ways of learning what doesn't work, and vow to try a different approach when faced with the same circumstances.
The definition if insanity it to keep doing the same thing, each time expecting a new result. Example: "Stay the course," regardless of being presented with new information.

Healing starts in forgiving yourself. Nothing to do with religion, just selfrespect. We all make mistakes. As long as we see it as valuable lessons, that's part of life. Never dwell too long on something that can't be reversed. Just try not to make the same mistake too often!

It has nothing to do with religion. You heal your soul by being genuinely remorseful and you help others to make up for what you have done.
