I do all the time.
And actually it looks quite harmless at first.
It is a sugarcube.
The edges of the cube cut like a razor and the reaction of your blood to the sugar is sure to leave a scar.
And lets be honest what cop is going to retain you for carrying sugar.
Another good street weapon is an ordinary cigarette lighter. Boost it till you have a 2-3inch flame. If someone comes at you just stick the flame in their face. It leaves your opponent disoriented for quite a few seconds. Large weapons like bats, pipes, hunting knives are conspicuous and if you meet a cop you're sure to lose them and get a fine. Small simple arms are a lot more effective

I was a pretty naive kid and when someone told me that it wasn't that hard to get assault weapons, I pulled some money together and did just that. I bought an AR-15, two SKSs and stubby, pistol-gripped Mossberg 500 (I took a $3000 loan out for these item, lol). I also borrowed a small pistol from a friend and I carried it everywhere. I never had any intention of shooting it, it just seemed fun. I've pretty much always avoided fighting and could never imagine pulling/pointing a gun on/at someone. One night we were driving and saw a fight with a ton of kids in a parking lot, so we stopped for whatever reason. The fight broke up and a much larger one started and we got caught in it. On my end, I was pulled down by a kid who just kept smashing my face with his knee (pulling my head down into it). It was fun, but the point is that even though I had the handgun, I didn't feel any particular urge to use it. There was another time that I was walking at like 3am and a cop stopped me. He didn't really have any reason, I was on foot doing nothing but wandering, but he immediately began to search my pockets, so I offered that the gun was in my right pocket. He reacted fast and banged me around a bit, then I went to jail. It was really hard to convince them that I wasn't up to anything, so I don't really carry guns anymore, nor did I ever really need to. The arresting officer didn't show up to my court stuff, so I was never charged with anything. I guess I was lucky.

Although where I live is considered dangerous, I wouldn't feel safe if I had a weapon for it could turn against me. What I do, when I'm afraid to go through a street, is light a cigarrette, so that at least I can surprise the person and buy me some time to do something. Anyway, one is never safe, no matter what.

Had to. I was a jeweler and used to carry packages to mail and sometimes deliver finished projects to the customer. When some people find out you're moving valuables you'd be at risk if it weren't assumed you'd be protected.
