There was no laser light, it was animated later. But there was a torch going under the table to simulate the laser - and the guy doing the cutting couldn't tell where Sean Connery's er, um, family jewels were. That sweat on James Bond's brow was real!

They used a light, i suppose similar to a giant laser pointer and they had a blow torch under the table that was cutting it and creating sparks.
