So what do you do to make their day nice?

I never say it because when it's said to me at the check-out etc. it never sounds sincere and the employee is told to repeat it automatically I'm sure it started out as a sincere wish but like a lot of other sayings "How are you today" it has really lost it's meaning. The asker after your health really could care less about you. I was feeling terrible one day when asked how I was, I told the truth and that person never asked again. My reply to this query now, depending on the circumstances is "Well I could start at the athletes foot and go on up to the dandruff or do you want me to stop at the hemorrhoids". As you can probably tell I am not one for idle chit-chat and never get invited to cocktail parties a second time.
