An ambition is always ego driven. Just think... It s also a (hidden) message that the current situation is not good, not acceptable, so we want the change. However, as our goal relies on so many conditions, we live stressed under the energy of ambition. It s a painful notion of not wanting to be in the now. It s a split between what is and what should be.
To be clear, I m not talking about what s good or bad, but about the influence our aspirations have on ourselves and others.
Instead, a motivation is always in the present. It is a foundation upon which we base our goals. If the base is egoistic, the result will sooner or later become painful, but if it s heart-based altruistic, then it will last and support us also through difficult times, proving it s eternal value.

I thought about this one for a minute before I answered, and I think the difference is: Motivation is Short term, and Ambition is Long term. . . That's the best way I could come up with to answer your question.

Ambition is a desire for success or a strong feeling of wanting to be successful in life and achieve great things
Motivation is the giving of a reason to act or the act of giving somebody a reason or incentive to do something .
Or simply put like this, Ambition is a feeling of wanting to be successful on your own, Motivation is when someone is telling you reasons why you should do something. You follow me?

Novation and ambition r 2 in the same things.
the motivator seems to provide an ambition to achieve what he needs to achieve, a relaxed life with motivation to come out in the sun and enjoy it again rather than spending my night by the moon and my days in relative darkness.

Motivation concerns the will to the end. If one wills an end (goal) one must also will the means to that end. Ambition, in its malignant sense, concerns the will to an end or goal regardless of the means thereto (ruthless ambition). In it's benign sense, ambition characterizes merely a goal to attain.

I believe the difference is that motivation is more focused on something, wereas ambition is more a way of describing a quality of someone.
