Football is a game of controlled violence. What occured on the field in the brawl was totally beyond the bounds of any game. Players using a helmet as a weapon, players stomping on others on the ground, cheap shots after cheap shots on both sides. It was a total disgrace to the game of football. If either college president had any balls they would, and should have, suspended ALL of the players that ran out onto the field for the remainder of the season. Sadly though the college game is not about ethics or doing what is right. It is about money and the U of Miami is still hoping for a bowl game and the bowl game dollars that follow.

I Feel That If U get In A Fight On The Field/Court for Any sport You Should Have Criminal consequences! I mean If You Are Just Waling Down The Street And You Hit Someone You Will Get In trouble for Battery.. I think that sports athletes should have these same consequences.. Maybe Then They Will Learn!

So, in your view, it should be legal to take off your helmet and swing it at other players, or get a guy down on the ground and stomp on his legs with your cleats?

Football is a violent sport, but there are rules so it doesn't become a war. Miami and FIU players stepped way over the line and got punished for it (well, Miami players got a slap on the wrist for it from the ACC, and the administration at Miami caved). Some of those players should never step on a football field again.

This depends on how violent the act and who saw it.

If the media saw it they expect punishment. The coach is probably affraid for his reputation.
