I have an analogy....
Imagine you are being in a queue in a doctor....

In this case, the waiting room is RAM and the doctor is processor... The bigger your RAM, the bigger the waiting room, so it could holds more patient....

first of all u have to ensure which motherboard ur using...and the limit which it allows .. many motherboards of INTEL 845 series or equivalent allow upto 1 GB RAM... RAM is the main hardware that loads the program form hard disk to RAM... then comes the role of processor ..it does not matter whether u have a fast processor or not but RAM should be given more importance........

my friend as u maybe know the one of the slowest thing in computer is comunicating with memory. all of your application are located in HDD and each of them that must be runned and processed by CPU must go to RAM to execute them with more ram more applications at a time can be processed by cpu.. in addition when you have much RAM at the processing time cpu donot need to communicate with HDD anymore... CPU will execute these applications and faster cpu means faster handling applications ready to run in RAM.
