As a percentage of their wages than they did under Eisenhower?

The tax rates under Eisenhower were much higher, with the top tax bracket at 96%
People paid less taxes dollarwise and by percentage of their income under the Clinton administration than they pay presently. This is because of the sharp increases in state taxes that took effect to cover the loss of federal monies under Bush! The only people who saw their actual tax percentage fall are the wealthiest 3%
So much for the idea of Republicans dont like taxes.

Per person we paid a higher tax rate under Clinton than we do not. Tax revenues are up but that has to do with numerous other factors. So as a person you pay a smaller percentage now than you did then.
