I suspect that it was the North wall of the Eiger (a mountain in Europe). That route was a notorious man killer, that required numerous attempts before it was successfully climbed. I believe that the Noth wall of Everest is located in China and would not have been accessible to Sir Edmond Hillary and Tenzing Norquay, in 1953 when they made the first ascent of Mount everest.

Mt Everest? A little bit of makeup tomorrow is about the best you can do. If she's hairy at that stage, get her an electric razor for her legs. And get her another men's-type one to use on her face, because the sooner she starts shaving her face at the first sign of hair, the better. The fact that she's got "Mt Everest" there is an indication of acne starting and hair follows very quickly afterwards. Better to start shaving as soon as the problem appears.

The North Face brand was established in 1968, in Berkeley, CA, when Douglas Tompkins created an equipment retail store that eventually acquired the current name "The North Face". This name was chosen because the north face of a mountain in the northern hemisphere is generally the steepest, coldest, and most difficult face to climb.
The North Face's easily recognizable logo consists of a slightly skewed quarter-circle with two lines running within it. This image is supposedly an interpretation of the famous Half Dome rock formation in Yosemite National Park.

I agree with Dan S. It was probably the north face of the Eiger which was famous for it's difficulty as well as bad weather. The company probably took it to mean any and every mountain though.

Mountains are said to have faces or sides determined by the direction that side of the mountain is facing. North face is the northern side of the moutain.
