Medicare is being adjusted again, and not for the benefit of the recipients. Those who are confined to wheelchairs will soon have to pay for the chairs themselves and the prices are rediculous. How can we afford to help countries that really hate us,and we can`t afford to take care of our own citizens?Do you agree that our priorities are mixed up?

I do believe in helping the needy, anywhere in the world, but if there are two children in the neighborhood, one is mine and one is someone elses,I am responsible for taking care of my own child first,THEN helping the neighbors kid.We have some needy people right here in our own Country.Probably in most of our own neighborhoods.

Yes they are! However, history tells us that one way of stop being superpower is either being defeated in war like Russia, Birtish or Germans. Other way of losing this status is being weak internally like Ottomans, Mughals etc.

The financial help that the west gives to the world helps some desperate people / countries. Without it, more would starve and that is a fact.
The fact that they give it to people that 'hate them' is unfortunate, but some of the people receiving this aid (at least those on the ground) are often not aware it is America providing it. Many remove stickers / etc that identify the food as coming from the west, whilst other more ruthless people simply sell the food on to its own people, or in the case of Africa, give it only to the people recognized as supporting the government in that country.
It can be such a sad world sometimes, but think about how these people would be if there was nothing at all. I hate handouts too, but it seems sometimes it can end so much suffering.
Suffering at a level we may never know....have a nice day.

Yes I do agree, however, foreign aid is given priority in order to make the world run smoothly so large corporations can operate more efficiently. Countries with starving populations are paid off to avoid revolutions, while others with military interests have their palms greased to keep them pacified. The prevailing belief here in the U.S., especially among Republicans, is "every man for himself". There are some who would like to eliminate all social safety nets, including Social Security, Medicare, and even public education!

Our government is chock full of bleeding hearts . We really should take care of our people at home before we ever help some terrorist supporting country that regularly stresses how much they HATE America . I say that if some country says that they hate what we have done for them in the past , we refuse to send them anymore so-called humanitarian aid either . That will teach them to appreciate what we do for them !!!!

More money is wasted on pork barrel projects than is spent on foreign aid. If we were more careful with our domestic spending then there wouldn't be the need to cut programs like you've outlined and we could still assist other countries.

I am against any money given to any foreign country until our debt is paid off. Fiscal responsibility says that if you owe debts that will take you many generations to pay off you are not in the position to be charitable.
