Does anyone know the correct body to report a dodgy garden service. I paid up front (I know how stupid am I), it was a 2 part job: Part 1 was to clear up the garden and bag it all up, part 2 was to get a van to remove the refuse. He did part one promising to come back the next day to remove the refuse. After 4 scheduled pick up times he never turned up, always with some lame excuse. Eventually the bagged up refuse was killing my grass so I said I would arrange a "man with a van" but I wanted a refund for the work the guy didnt do. He agreed, now I am having the same run around trying to get my money out of him. Its been 3 "next weeks" and I am seeing red, how hard is internet banking?. Who can I report him to? Its not a lot of money but I hate being ripped off!

Any help?

Never, ever, pay up front no matter what. You only have yourself to blame.

If he's a trader, report him to your local Trading Standards Office.
If he's an amateur one-man-band, you're stuffed. Never pay that sort in advance. A reputable firm won't ask for money up front for small, short jobs.

Report him to the Better Business Bureau. To get the money back you may have to go to small claims court.

ok first is report him to trading standards which is key cos they have power and even if you dont hear anything straight away they will keep it on file,

secondly if you want to muscle him phone and ask if he has a waste carriers licence, in order for him to carry and dipose of rubbish he must have this and the liklehood is he was planning to fly tip, he will not want anyone going into to much detail about tipping

Yes you can report this and this website/company does let the person or company know they've been reported. You can write whatever has happened & everyone sees the report. Below are links.
