This is really difficult because everybody has a different body chemistry, so that what smells wonderful on one person can smell dreadful on someone else. My first man gave me a huge bottle of Chanel No. 5, because he'd heard that this was one of the best and most coveted, and on me it smelled awful although it smells delightful on other people.

So, what you need to do it take a peek at her existing stock of perfums (I hope she uses some, so you can get a clue); make a note of their names; and then take yourself to an independent perfumier - that is, someone who stocks many different brands - present them with this list and ask for their recommendations. A good one ought to be able to help, because perfumes fall into five basic categories (floral, woodsy, aldehydal, etc.) and the perfumier should be able to suggest something. Or if you're buying something really expensive it's just possible that they might have some free samples that you can take and ask her to try them out before you commit to the Big One.

The boring but safe alternative is a gift certificate, but believe me it's dreadful when you know your spouse has spent their treasure on something that doesn't suit.

Nice to know you love her so much. Good luck.

the smell would be different on people since people vary on skin acidity. generally, light fragrance for people with dark complexion and heavy fragrance for those with fair complexion. of course, depends on the mood too or whatever she needs since you don't wear the same scent always (like floral scent during summer) that's why it's better to bring her shopping for it so that you're sure she'll be getting what she really likes.

It all depends on her preference, look and see which of her perfume bottles are almost empty. What I love, she may hate.

Just ask her which one she likes. There are way too many different scents to just pick one and get it right the first time, hun...lol. Or ask a friend of hers which ones your wife prefers.
