Call lonesome George, the lonely Maytag repairman. (From the old Maytag commercials) You need to change the orifices in the burners and/or gas valve and you'll need the proper parts for your model stove. Don't forget the oven/broiler burner also! Natural gas works under much less pressure than propane(LP). Natural gas is lighter than air and floats upwards as where LP is heavier and stays low to the floor both of which can be dangerous if not handled properly. Nat. gas should be 3 1/2 in. WC (inches of water column, measured with a manometer) and LP between 10 & 13 " WC.

Simple solution is to ask GE - since it is their product and they are legally responsible for it's safe operation - maybe they do provide a kit to safely convert the stove. I used to make my own parts to do that when I worked in a Lightbulb factory and had to make burners to melt and shape glass into lightbulbs. The only real difference is the size of the orfice in the burner which must be much smaller for propane. If you used the Natural Gas orfice with propane the flames would be to large and too hot to be safe.

It depends on the type of burners it has. If they are the sealed-burner type, you need to go to a Maytag dealer & buy the proper orifices. Other types have adjustable orifices.
I highly recommend you call a professional to do this- improperly adjusted gas burners can create high carbon-monoxide levels.

You have to buy a new orphes for the conversion, we did it with a stove some years ago , it is really easy to do. Go to your local hardware store and tell them whatyou are doing and they will get you the right part that you need.
