While the democratic party may support cerrtain social programs, i.e. Nationalized health care, welfare, etc, they are definitely not socialists in the conventional sense. Socialism, especially the governmental system endorsed by Karl Marx in the Communist Manifesto calls for full nationalization of all industry and infrastructure. I doubt many democrats support such a radical shift in a society that is so decidedly capitalist. I think the socialist causes of the democratic party involve a shift towards a better balance between capitalistic interests and social concerns. I think the countries of Western Europe and even Canada provide a good model for some of the goals of the party. Calling democrats "socialists" or "communists" is really just rhetoric used to associate the party with the enemies of the cold war.

They either:
(1) Won't admit it, or
(2) Will claim that there's "nothing wrong with Socialism" (brainwashing at it's finest)
The Democrat party has descended so low that it should be closed down by the authorities for endangering the well-being of the United States.

If you use Harry S. Truman's yardstick The democratic party is now totally communist. The U.S.A. is rapidly embracing socialism and a police state mentality... Uh...sorta like National Socialism?
Socialism removes incentive and motivation and replaces them with government programs, providing a "level playing field". Neat concept if you are lazy. Taking care of indigents has nothing to do with these political concepts, but that is the number one tool of leftist media to push higher degrees of socialism.

Socialism is the lack of free enterprise. The government owns all business. Democrats do not want socialism. They want a system in place that allows the possibility to advance with education, work, and determination.

Yes, I know what socialism is. As a Christian I cannot refuse its benefits. We must bring about welfare and health care for all!
