There's a product called Goo-Gone. I believe it's made of a citrus oil that you can apply to a paper towel and trub the tape residue off.
Another good option is WD-40 (which more people tend to have around the house).
These methods will both work for price tags on hard surface as well.

Sticky residue on glass can easily be removed by wetting a paper towel with lighter fluid and rubbing the offending blob of stickiness. Fold the section of the paper towel often to increase exposure to the lighter fluid. Really ... it'll just take a few seconds.

Goo B Gone is probably the best.. Then to not have to purchase anything..just plain old rubbing alcohol that we all have in our medicine cabinets is the best and fastest way to get the sticky tape residue off..Use it all the time and works like a charm!!

I've done this in the past by washing the glass in quite hot water. The residue should become more malleable and you should then be able to scrape it off with a flat-bladed knife or a really flat piece of plastic. Guitar plectrums are excellent scrapers that tend not to damage what you are scraping. You may need to wash and scrape a few times before it comes off.

Get some glass cleaner and spray down the area and continuously rub the sticky part off. Water helps a little, but I perfer to use glass cleaner. my son loves to put stickers everywhere!! So I know this method.

use dawn dish soap and a sponge or a soaking wet brillo pad will probly work too......the best thing though is a razor blade but dont hold it as your cutting something hold it so it is sideways and most of the blade is on the glass and just gently slide it under the residue

The adhesive can be removed with a solution of warm water, liquid dish washing detergent, and vinegar or ammonia.
Vinegar is a natural ingredient for most cleaning aids..
