On the Brady Bunch, Alice was considered a part of the family. Aside from a few episodes, camping trips, and when she sprained her ankle, why do you think she never ate meals with the family?

because she was the maid. if she had sat down with the family it would have changed the whole concept of the show...She would have been one of the "Brady Bunch", and not the backbone of the way the house was efficently taken care of.

As much as she was part of the family, she was still an employee. Alice knew her place.

She was the maid. Maids don't eat dinner with the family. Kind of wrong and archaic, but it worked for the family.
