I never gave my baby cereal in a bottle though at 4-5 months he was getting cereal in the mornings then the jar baby food. I was always told by doctors not to though my mother in-law and sister in-law insisted that I did. It's your child though, I would just try to give your baby cereal from the bowl yeah it will take up your time but you won't have worry about unblocking the bottle he/she will still get the cereal. In the end it's your child you know what is best, but you might want to try just putting more water or less cereal.

I went through this with my daughter...and no giving your baby rice cereal in a bottle is NOT a bad thing. My daughter had to have it from 1 month old b/c she had reflux...people give it to their babies all the time to make them feel fuller and sleep better. all you have to do is take a knife and cut the hole in the nipple slightly bigger, when you get it cut squeeze the nipple a little to make sure the cereal will come through it.. if it still doesn't come through cut it a little bigger. when you put the cereal in the bottle swirl it around a little until all the cereal is moist before you shake it up and down. this prevents the dry cereal from getting compacted in the nipple. good luck

It's clogging because it's too thick to be given in a bottle. You should be giving rice cereal with a spoon, it is no longer recommended to give cereal in a bottle any more, it's a choking hazard and it's harder on their little stomachs, it may cause some digestive problems. And if it's to make them sleep better, this is not the solution. If you are not willing to do that, you will need to make the nipple hole bigger. (I don't even want to suggest that, but you did ask a question) It's just a bad idea all around.

Either unblock the nipples, in the olden days (before companies were more interested in parting parents from their money) mother's would cut larger holes in the nipples in order to accomdate the more consistent cereal. There is NOTHING wrong with feeding your baby rice cereal in the bottle. Relying on books to raise a child is ineffective parenting at best and lazy parenting at worst.

Go to your local grocery or department store and in the baby isles you should find nipples made for giving baby cereal, milk and juice. Cereal DOES help an infant sleep all night long, be sure to wait until baby is at least 6 weeks old.
Good Luck

Ok these answers are ridiculous. If you read baby books, the vast majority tell you not to feed your baby anything but milk until they are like 9 months or older. That is stupid. My mom fed both me and my brother baby cereal from 2 weeks of age, and we are both incredibly healthy, we never even get colds. Baby cereal does make them feel fuller and helps them sleep, so ask your mom - did she give YOU baby cereal?

If the cereal isn't getting through though, I wouldn't suggest making the hole much bigger - sometimes that makes the baby get too much in a mouthful and they just dribble it out of their mouths, which wastes a lot. Try making it thinner.

Use a spoon, rice cereal in a bottle is a bad thing. Baby can choke on the clumps especially if it's too early for cereal.

They used to have special nipples that had a big enough hole for that....

But, they dont recommend that most babies eat cereal of any type until they are of One year of age!

But, most Mothers hate the "crying" and find that rice in the milk or some type of thing will "settle" them down. All it does is make fat babies and they dont do well later in life...

Go with what your Pediatrician says...

I wish you well..

You shouldn't give your baby rice cereal in a bottle unless you have been directed to do so by your doctor. It will not help your baby sleep better.
