As you have already got an answer. I have long hair, so I am already good in this business. Open drain cap, remove the hair and other material (yes, it is yuck), wear gloves, then wash pipes under pressure (water cleaning under great pressure), I prefer not to use chemicals (environment saving). If it does not help, call the plumber. I avoid this problem by avoiding the hair getting into the pipes. I also clean hair away every week. I hope it helps.

Definitely a hairball filled with soap scum. Remove the drain plug; if it is a pop-up type of plug there may be a wad of hair and scum wrapped up in the workings, so pull that out. Many times I can get my scummed hairballs out by taken a plunger and sucking up the hair wad right out of the drain. This should be a fairly simply procedure and should take only a few minutes. Usually the hairball is entagled right in the drain parts which makes it easy to plunge it right out. Turn on the water and let the tub fill with a bit of water until the drain is completely submerged, or leave the water running so the drain is under water while you plunge it. I press down slowly on the plunger and then pull it up with force; this will suck big gloms of hair wads right up out of the drain and you can pull it out the rest of the way. Do that until you can get no more out and your drain will be working again.

I never have to use a harsh chemical drain cleaner, which I find never works anyway. The plunger does the job and is much faster.

If this does not work, then the possibility exists that the clog is way down the pipe somewhere and may need to be snaked out, and that's a whole different proposition. Most of the time though the hairwad is right at the drain.

My shower was the same. Went to local hardware shop and they sold me 'Drain Buster'. Brilliant!! Followed the directions to the letter and after 5mins, all the hair trapped in the bend of the pipe [causing the blockage] starting smoking! got a bit leery about that but waited till I was supposed to and then followed rest of directions. Done that every 3 months and no more trouble. I have three daughters who wash their thick hair in the shower so this is the best thing out. Hope it works as well for you, good luck!

I have experience this very same thing, our water comes from a well and from time to time the shower heads will get restricted from a calcium build up. just put a little CLR in a cup and hold it inside the shower head for about 5 minutes and it should do the trick.

A word of warning on ROMI G's answer, don't overdo the pressure, most drains, upstairs anyway, are only push joints and it's easy to push them apart.

Try pouring clorox down drain, let it sit about 20 minutes and then rinse with very hot water.

is it the shower head? maybe it needs de-scaling as often limescale can block water flowing

if it is the shower plug hole, check there is no hair blocking - pour sink and plug unblocker down and leave - alternativley use soda crystals (from all good supermarkets - quite cheap) and pour down hole then use hot water down hole.
