I'm tired, my back aches, breasts are uber sensitive, sex drive has gone through the roof and I've spent my last few mornings being either sick r nauseous. However, when I took a home test I didn't even get a control line. I'm confused and worried about it which is making me a little stressed out! Anyone know what I should do now? This would not be a particularly welcome pregnancy too, as I'm in my final year of my degree

Technically you'd have enough time to finish this year and do whatever is left online or via night classes. If you got pregnant now you wouldnt have the baby until some time in may, school should be out by then.

Take another test, if you dont get the control line then the test is disfunctional and not working. Thats what the control line is for, to tell you that the test is working.

Its quite possible that you're just PMSing, since these are all symptoms of PMS. That and if your mind thinks you're pregnant your body will act as though it is.

Every pregnancy you make is a welcome pregnancy, if you didnt want it you wouldnt have made it. Buck up and find out whats going on, and then make plans to follow it through. STart talking with your school to find out how you can be sure to finish your degree before the baby comes.

Go to your doctor and get blood work done to make sure. But in my opinion i dont think you're pregnant.

Hi, I can only assume that your period is late as you have not mentioned this most obvious symptom of pregnancy in you list. You really need conformation of your pregnancy as early as possible, to keep your options open and allow you to look after yourself and your baby. To put you mind at rest immediately I recommend taking a trip to the late night pharmacy ie: boots etc and purchasing a clear blue pregnancy test. This test is very easy to use and will provide results fast. These are expensive but worth it. Alternatively you can organise an urgent appointment with your student health centre in the morning even if you’re not registered. They will do a pregnancy test that will put your mind at rest. They can also advise you and put you in contact with maternity service if a positive result is obtained or offer advice on contraception if the results are negative. Don't worry about been a student and there are so many services available to pregnant students. However a pregnancy at this stage of your course should not influence exams or graduation as the baby would be born late in the academic year. Your course administration will help you apply for mitigating circumstance and extensions if necessary.

Good Luck

You probably had a bad test if the control line didn't show up. i hate those home pregnancy test. If you have a GYN than call the office and ask them if you can have a blood test. Or if you don't have one you can also go to your regular doctor and also get the labs for the test. You shouldn't need an appointment. a blood test is the most accurate thing to do, so you won't be wondering anymore. Good luck!!

Have you missed your period yet (or have a very light one)? That's generally the hallmark signal of pregnancy.

If you didn't get the control line, something was wrong with the test. You should always see one. Retest as soon as possible--those new digital ones are pretty foolproof. Use your first morning's urine. If you're still unsure, see a doctor. Blood tests are a lot more sensitive in detecting the hcg hormone.

In closing, use reliable birth control in the future to avoid unwanted pregnancies.

I didn't get a positive result until 2 weeks after my period was due - you have probably tested too early. I also knew it would be positive before I took the test as my body was telling me so. The symptoms you are describing are early signs of pregnancy. Best to wait and try again. Make sure you use first morning urine. Hope everything works out for you - you might just have a bug and remember stress can make your period late.

get a different test. sometimes the companies fudge and a bad one goes through. happened to me a couple of times. you might want to try a digital test. or a regular name-brand instead of a storebrand one (if you used a store brand). then if you don't get a straight answer, go to your doctor

as far as this being the last year of your degree, you can do it, it will just be a bit more difficult. And you can always put the baby up for adoption.

eithr way you go, however, get it checked soon, you only really have so much time to get some things done.

The clear blue test that i used if i remember rightly said it could be used 4 days before your period is due, when i used a cheaper test when i was first pregnant it showed negative but with the clear blue it showed positive. I would try a new test no more than 4 days before you are due on or if you can wait until the day your period is due and test then if it doesnt come. Goodluck

Symptoms of pregnancy can be felt even if you are not pregnant. It may be caused by hormonal changes.

The only positive signs of pregnancy are the following; Audible fetal heartbeat, Palpable fetal outline and ultrasonography.

All other symptoms such as nausea, vomitting, dizziness, delayed menstruation, positive pregnancy tests etc. are only presumptive or probable signs. So if you really want to know if you are indeed pregnant the best thing to do is visit your OB gyn and let her confirm your pregnancy.

Good day!

If you didn't get a control line then your test was probably defective. You should get another test and try again.

You should also make an appointment with your doctor. Whether you are pregnant or not, you seem to have some symptoms that your doctor might be able to help with.

If you can't even get a control line, you probably had a faulty test. Also, sometimes these tests aren't accurate for a couple of weeks. Visit a doctor for best results.
