Just a note to Just Me on his remarks about people in the UK. Yes we complain about levels of taxes and we "love" free healthcare, but the free healthcare isn't handed to us, we pay National Insurance to get the benefits. Our main frustration is around all of the lazy spongers in our country who are able to work if they wanted to and cream our benefits and haven't paid a single penny into the system for the privilege.

Back to the question, I would imagine that there would be a way for the government to tax solar power. Higher taxes would be whacked on when buying the panels, as well as a licence fee for the equipment, on a yearly basis, based on units of energy produced/consumed.

If there's a way to do it, our government will do it!

They'll tax anything, even if the money raised has no specific purpose.

When you buy a house, you pay stamp duty tax, a new car has car purchase tax (in addition to VAT & road fund tax.) Airports have airport tax, the lottery has lottery tax.

You're taxed to death. And then you're charged a death tax.

None of these taxes have an allocated purpose. It's just tax.

So yes, there will be a sunlight tax.

It all goes on war anyway. I guess it costs a lot to drop a missile onto a school or to pay a torturer to mutilate innocent civilians.

They have already put a tax on Solar Panels - so thats a tax on sunlight I suppose! - just out of interest the Scots won't agree to do away with 'British Summertime' so they do still steal our daylight!
