looking at going to california next year for a few weeks and was looking for cheap places to get my head down any ideas? plus where are the best places to go?

depends on which part ...but heres a few.sanfransico,observatory there, plus alcatraz.
amusement parks,the beaches ,pismo is ok on your wallet.I suggest a huge map

The shopping in San Francisco is great and so is the scenery in the Presidio, which is near the Golden Gate Bridge. Walking across the Golden Gate is fun and cheap, you can take pictures without spending money unless you want to but souveniers. Another great shopping area is Berkeley in the East Bay. There are a variety of stores in Berkeley that can suit different tastes and needs. I recommend the Fisherman's Wharf as well. There is great shopping, restaurants, and attractions. If you go to Fisherman's Wharf make sure to check out the bush man.
