Soccer = football
American Footall = lightweight version of Rugby :P
and if you talk to a football fan (english one ) never call it soccer
it's football, ie ball to foot
the word of soccer came from an old etoneon who also coined the phrase rugga, I wish he had never said the S word as it's football, ball to foot and you kick the ball, not run around with it in your hands.

Schoolgirls in Britain play Rounders which is, in nearly all essentials , similar to Baseball, though less agressively performed.
And Snooker is very similar to Pool.
