Liability. Too many men have violated their own position of authority when in the presence of young girls.

It's the same reason that when you go in for a pap smear, if your doctor is male, he is legally required to have female nurse present during the exam.

As a chaperone. That way it's harder for any false accusations to be made.

I'll give you an example of a more extreme case: I work for the Railroad. The railroad has its own police. One day at work, and one of the railroad cops I know asked for my help. They had to pick up a 14 year old runaway girl, and he had no female officers on duty. The 14 year old had taken off to meet some guy off the internet, and her parents found out about it. They called the police because God only knows who this guy really was. So, even though I'm *not* a cop, I had to just hang out with them as their female "officer" (he even referred to me as his officer) while they had her in custody waiting for her parents to come get her. The reason was obvious. I was the chaperone. I was there to help her feel safer with them, and also to protect them from any false accusations. Of course, all the officers were complete professionals.

Okay, long story, but I think it illustrates the point. Adult females will usually be required in situations where only male staff is around underage females, so that everyone will see that everything is on the up-and-up.

You are a girl and you may not have any bad intention. But the male attendant in girls student hostel or boarding school may not be safe. Because for men it is enjoy in minutes and go. For ladies it is torture not only for 10 months but for the whole life. It is the duty of the society to safeguard girls. It does not mean that all the male are bad, but the tendency and weakness of male towards female is not upto satisfaction.

Male staff member - (Running out of the room) "oh my.....I quit...." "am I on "Dateline: to catch a preditor." we were just friends, I swear!!"
