If you have to get a gift for somone who has everything then you need to get them something meaningful to them.
Maybe, if you've done something special with them, like say vacationed in Mexico. Pick up a small rock while you're there. Pick up one that is beautiful. Take a picture of it and label it Mexico and date it. Then put the picture in an album and put the small rock in a basket. Then do it again for other meaningful occasions such as a wedding, skinny dip occasion :), long romantic walk, etc.
When your basket and photo album are full you are ready to give it as a gift. Label your basket and album "Memories" or something like that.
Now that takes a while but you get the idea. Make the gift meaningful to them. It doesn't have to be a $300 gift! The memory basket or something of the sort would probably be worth more to them anyways.

This is a definite, "from the heart" situation. The perfect gift for the person who has everything takes thought.
If she reads you can find out who her favorite author is and either pick up that author's newest release or find a copy of a book that's out of print.
If she likes to cook you can compile a collection of your grandmother's favorite recipes.
If she enjoys sports you can get her tickets to the next game in her area or you can put together a scrapbook of pictures and articles of her favorite team or player.
Basically, you just have to learn as much as you can about her and use your imagination. It's not easy but it can be fun.

Arr, cap'n, I thinks a bit ye makes would be yar and fair. A scarf, if ye knit. A painting, if ye paint. A carving, if ye carve. And so forth.
Those who have everything can still appreciate the time and effort that go into creating a personal work of art or craft for them.
If ye've no skills atall (which I doubt), and have sufficient booty (and I see that ye do), ye can take them somewheres good fer grub, or even on a trip, if yer so inclined. You'd be spending yer time with them still.
Hope that helps, cappie.

you did not say if she is married or not...this makes a big difference here...
get her a good looking PROFESSIONAL date...( no hanky panky )
some one to pick her up, take her to musical or play, and out to eat at a fancy expensive restaurant, then out dancing and then drop her off at home and a kiss on the hand and a good night and bye... and of courses a rose....
smile
it is all in a good nights fun...
if she is married then MAKE her hubby do all of these things and you pay for the limo and all, just like you would have with the PRO guy...... and give him an itinerary so follow so he does not mess it up..and a signed card saying happy birthday from you...
and if the have children, get another family member to stay at their home and watch them, while he takes her to a nice place for the night...
sounds good to me...
smile
good luck

How about something you can do together? My Mom is the same as your family member, but she loves the 2 of us going to a spa, going out to dinner and maybe a movie, etc. Something that will make her feel special. Or the old- fashioned, but wonderful family- friends-presents-cake thing?

Okay, here is what you do. Get a really big empty box. At the bottom of the box put a cinder block with a rope tied to it and a card that says it's the thought that counts. When she opens it explain to her that she has a choice. She can either take the card or the nice ankle braclet you bought her.

Books, cool soaps, candles, stationery, a nice teacup & saucer with some different kinds of teabags in the cup, or something unique from an antique store would all be good, for me.

Put together either a basket or pretty bag. Put different things in it. Find out what her favorite book or movie is and get a special edition of it if it is available. Have her car detailed.
