Far more. My thoughts rarely include speech. Reminisces, fantasies, pictures, emotions, strategy and planning.

Speech and words are far inferior to thoughts, and language can only go so far to express thoughts. Language is hindered in the expression of thoughts by the speaker's ability to effectively communicate ideas to listeners in a way that they will understand what is trying to be conveyed. The listeners' context also filters the language through the prism of their own experiences and the context in which they are received.

Speech and language or only two of the forms of communication. The ancient trivium of grammar, rhetoric and logic were essential to understanding, so the student could better grasp higher ideas.

I can communicate more with a glance or a piercing stare than I could with language.

Thoughts are also often much faster than speech.

I'm not sure what the obstacle is either but obviously there is one. I also used to think about this when I was a kid. Imagine being able to record your dreams and watch them later. Wouldn't that be freaky? I'm sure that somebody will invent it someday. Hey, if you don't see the obstacle, why don't you invent it? But if you make lots of money you have to give me some because I gave you the idea.

Well, they could be sub-vocal. Personally, I believe they follow the same pathway in the brain, yet cut off somewhere before it reaches the mouth. I feel like when I am thinking, I 'm actually practicing talking in my brain. It is also proving that many people cannot control saying what they think sometimes and get into trouble for saying things.
