First off ship is the cheapest way to ship your car....Container to Cargo class...depending on your budget.

Most importantly...check to see if your vehicle meets:
"US Saftey and Emmissions Standards 1704"
"US Customs Standards 1402"
"US Homeland Security Screening"
Also be aware that your vehicle will be held by US Customs for inspection for up to 90 days, if you are not a US National. If you are it only takes 30 days Max.

I would way the cost of all of that against selling that vehicle there and buying a new one here.

After that you are on your way.Good luck in the US!

First, what you are asking is HIGHLY subjective! How much is "Half your stuff"? How much stuff do you have? What items are the half that you will send? Second: One car and one SUV are two entirely different things! WHERE do you think you are going to USE an SUV in Spain???? WHERE do you think you are going to PARK it? Third, you need to determine: Where do you plan to live? Do you REALLY think that any automobile is necessary? Have you ever even BEEN in Spain??? Fourth: The best thing to do, people here might be able to give you a general idea...but for a decent estimate, you should begin checking for yourself...it's so easy nowadays! just search, say...UPS or whoever ships large items...estimate size and weight of the items in question, and start figuring...whatever you do, you should take the total, figure out about how long it will be before you start this move, then add 10 - 20% to your total, so you have a little buffer, in case things cost more than you planned, remember you have import taxes, inflation, and the fluctuating exchange to contend with.

Do you know what state your moving to? Check their Department of Motor Vehicles website and their Enviromental Protection Websites. Do a Yahoo or Google search for those and then you'll have to make some phone calls. Also find out if you car meets US and the state you moving to safety. Just because your car meets US EPA laws doesn't mean it'll meet that states EPAs laws. They should be able to give you some phone numbers of companies that can make your car legal for the US.

Do you already know if your car meets the US emission standards? Some European cars aren't legal, especially diesels.

the cheapest way would probably be by container. It can take 3 months to get here but the longer it takes the cheaper it gets.
