I was brought up in a middle class white family in the uk, that encouraged the rights of women and the questioning of established religion as it's pervading influences.

I'm sure that many people had other upbringings that influenced them, or they rebelled against.

However, when i look at other people, i think we all need to breathe, eat, drink water and get rid of our waste products- so we all have that in common.

Are lifestyle choices and our upbringing -the way we are programmed or influenced so to speak, giving us unnecessary conflicts when we are all human beings afterall?

can't the human race unite in it's similarities and stop fighting?

No for us all to unite and stop fighting we'd all have to have the same views, and since we all have different up bringings different religions and different beliefs then theres no way in a million years your ever going to get the whole world to agree. theres always going to be someone with a different opinion even if we where all to be brought up on in the same way!

It may seem an impossible task, but remember as long as there are like-minded people out there (which there are) than there is always a glimmer. Differences are what human beings base their identities on... were all a little guilty of that... :)

Not when you get radical extremists who have no room for flexibility or change in their culture, and who consider their way of living the only way to live. This way of living offers no progression, and causes conflict with other cultures.

You need to remember that lots of us actually benefit from inequalities in society - i.e. the rich, the middleclasses, the physically fit, the white, the hetrosexual and the English speakers. It would be insane for them to want to change the system!!!!!
