I have dislocated my pelvis twice and can no longer do my job as a professional cleaner with an nvq. I am on JSA but applying for other jobs all the time, no one will give me a chance to prove that i can do another job, I am going to college to update my skills as this might help, I feel even with equal opportunities as a 50 yr old woman i am still frustrated by some of the questions people ask at interviews.anyone got any other ideas to spur me on?

Well you have to be incapable of any work not just the job you normally do. But ask for an application form and see if you qualify....they will ask for medical proof and you may have to do a medical examination !!

I'd forget about incapacity or disabled living allowance as people only seem to get these if they are fiddling the system.

I cannot walk more than 10 yards or so without being in immense pain, I have to crawl up stairs, & my legs seize up & give way if I walk more than 5 mins or so.
I'm not "bad" enough to get any money even though I'm more or less housebound.
My g.p is 8 miles away (theres no buses) I was told I could start walking early and take a picnic for on the way!!!

Before you start claiming, I would just like to wish you good luck. I've been unwell for quite some time now, and dealing with these 'shower' is a complete nightmare!! There is certain criteria you need to fill to be allowed Incapacity Benefit, and even if you do fill it, you probably won't be granted it (is in my case). I found that my G.P was very helpful, so you should probably talk to him/her.
The following website should be useful...

Hope all goes well. ;-)

I'm in the same problem and only 34, I think incapacity is based on what tax and NI contributions you have paid.. You need to contact your local Job centre and they will be able to guide you.
