I don't know what the words mean, but in The Hunt For Red October, thery sing the anthem in the submarine and it sounded pretty inspiring to the people singing it, But then again, that's Hollywood.

The USSR national anthem was called "The Internationale" - I think. It dates back to the old communist days. Present day Russia probably has a new anthem but not sure what it is. If you cannot find it, wait for the Beijing Olympics - the Russians are bound to win something and we'll all have to listen to their anthem a couple of thousand times anyway.

It's a great tune, which an anthem should be, and I was glad they brought it back after it was dropped after 1991. I'm sorry Putin is bringing back so many other features of Soviet life, though.

The Internationale was the anthem of the Communist party, not the USSR or Russia.

Slightly better than the 'land of the free, yes if you are a white rich import American, and home of the brave, and what, pray ell, is so brave about a marine, for example, loaded to the teeth in arms, taking out a mud hut with women and children in it, or as a second example, some brave pilot, dropping bombs fror on high, not the moral ground then, on innocent children below.

Lets rewite, and get it right:

land of the middle senseless class enslaved, and home of murdering thugs who dare not take on any Countryor village that might shoot back.

I can't read cyrillic, nor do I understand much spoken Russian, but their (Russian) Nation Anthem sounds wonderful.
I've listened to it many times and always think to myself "I really would like to know what they are speaking about", but I'm too lazy to learn more of the Russian dialect than the few words I already know. I'm curious as to why you asked such a question.

If these are the lyrics you refer to

Its mighty wings spread above us
The Russian eagle is hovering high
The Fatherland’s tricolor symbol
Is leading Russia’s peoples to victory

it's not that different from most other 'national anthems' and most of them are truly out of date, although I would not wish for the tunes to change as that identifies a nation and there's nothing wrong with that, particularly at civilised sports events.

Yes I have. I think it is very well put together, very patriotic. I'm glad Putin decided to bring it back... well at least in a similar format anyway.
