I think it's because of the fact that the essence of the whole life is tragic. Even those who pretend that they are happy or seek their happiness in the material world ,deep down within their hearts they know that they 're just deceiving themselves. Mankind is a finite being, so, when s/he has such great ambitions and obsessions this supports my point:that s/he does not find real happinessin this world, and , since anybody has a weak side that yearns toward arising sympathy of others, man shows a tendency toward liking tragedy ,as a portrait of his own life.

People relate to tragedy; I think most people consider their lives tragic. People connect with the tragedy of others because it's the most commen state. Tragady is one of the great levelers.

Is it because we feel safe, good and invincible when we hear of other people suffering instead of ourselves? A sort of power to survive instinct.
