How can I remove tomoto sauce/purree (not tomato ketchup) stains from my carpet. I had a party last night and the tomoato sauce used in nachos obviously dropped onto the carpet. It has been left overnight as I did not see it until this morning!! Any ideas??

This works for me. If the stain is still wet, try repeatedly sponging with lukewarm water. Then, blot dry and treat with a solution of 1 teaspoon detergent and 1 teaspoon vinegar in a quart of warm water. After waiting 15 minutes, blot again and sponge with clean water.

Shampoo the carpet and if it can be moved put it in the sun for a few hours. Nothing like a bit of sunlight to fade tomato stains.

It sounds funny but club soda and salt. Pour a generous amount of club soda directly onto the stain then add a fine layer of salt. Let that sit for about 10 minutes then blot. Repeat until stain is removed. The club soda has carbonation that attracts stains and salt is naturally pourous. Be sure to vacuum up to salt when finished. Good luck!
