We always have the chance to change our destiny. We just don't always realize or acknowledge it. It's easier to think of Fate as something beyond our control, something that just happens to us. But the reality is that we choose & create our own fate.
I took control & took a chance to change my life. As a result of daring to take that step (buying a house in a new community) many wonderful things have happened to bring me closer to my dreams. If I had just sat around waiting for my dreams to fall into my lap it wouldn't have happened.
Even doing nothing & remaining in a rut is a choice.
Life is what you make it. You can sit around & just let things happen to you, with no direction. Or you can decide what you want and go for it.
We have to seize the day and take control of our lives if we want to be happy and live out our dreams.

you bring up very good points, and I will admit that your last point you made, the one about if you planned your life, how wouod you not know it woud have ended up that way anyway, very profound. So my answer is this, I would not want to plan my entire life out, I have had many wonderful surprises, and have had some bad things that turned out to be very good for me. What I would like to do or have is a little stipulation we use in a bowling when we are gambling, and that is the person you are bowling against has a lower average than you so he wants a lot of help in order to make it abit even, so what I do in times like that, is I agr but with the stipulation that I would get 5 pins anywhere I want them. The reason for that is that if I get up and i knock down 9 pins, ( yes I am simplifying the terminology used in bowling for people who dont bowl), then I can use one of those 5 pins and make it a strike, so for example, if I have 4 strikes in a row, and on my next ball I only knock down 9 or 8, then I can use 1 or 2 pins from those 5 and make it a strike. So that is what I would prefer, to have a set number say 5 or 10 ideal way options, and you can use them whenever you want through out your life, but if you get only 5 or 10, then that is it. Once they are gone, they are gone and you will have to live with your mistakes. That seems abit better to me. That would be my wish

We are totally aware of our Fate/Destiny before we are born.
At the moment of birth, we are blessed with the gift of Forgetfulness.
Can you imagine knowing in the minutest detail everything that was going to happen for the rest of your life!
I read the Tarot, and it gives me small glimpses into peoples' future. However, this can be likened to peering through a small window into a wonderful countryside.
The trouble is, I can see only tiny pieces of different scenes, just like a small piece of a giant jig-saw puzzle.
This is where the adventure comes into play.
You are given some direction, but you have to find the way forward yourself.
We recognise this as Free Will!
Thank you for the question.

I think that to have control over our destiny/life/fate would be too much responsibility, for me it would anyway. I already have enough decisions to make in life, so at least when Fate steps in I can think "thats obviously meant to be".

I think everything in life happens for a reason, anyway. I dont believe in pure chance, although sometimes a course of action will be open to you, and its up to you as an intelligent being to follow it.
Humans naturally like to be in control, but some of the suprises that come by letting destiny take its course are rather fun.

There are to aspects in our lives which we should be aware of:
one part we have no choice or control on,
(like who our parents will be, where will we be born, what nationality, our colour, our look, .....etc)
the other is what we choose for ourselves
(our education, our work, our friends, our believes, our relation with others, ... etc)
certainly the first part is completely controlled by Allah (God),
the second part which is controlled by us (because Allah decided to give us this much free well) is the part which he will hold us responsible of our actions in it on the here after,
this part may be contained in your question,
yes, I would like and wish if I did this or that,
but no way, we can not turn time back and change what we already done

I would leave it to fate/destiny because I believe God created em for a specific purpose and if I decided not to do what God wanted everything would fall of course. I trust that if he made me he knows best. It is like children telling their parents that they are right and the parents are wrong.

no one can plan their destiny / fate will have it that chances are you will live a full life unless you have the misfortune of ill health , this , like all aspects in life , will be your call how you look after yourself ; otherwise destiny will take it's course . the only thing you can be absolutely sure of in life is , death and taxes --- ever thing else is a raffle --- but don't dwell on it grab life with both hands --- and enjoy !!! for you will ( like everyone else ) be a long time dead . --- fate ;chance ; destiny --- all a big fizz really .

so intriguing your question is as usual. part of me would like to take control, do it over again starting about 18 years old, mapping out my life, taking charge, taking risk and make it "perfect". The other part of me says, "hell no" let what suppose to happen happen, take each curve as it comes not knowing what is on the other side, and therefore enjoying the ride to the great unknown.
so it leaves me at a point of not fully answering the question and stalled for the moment wondering what I want in life and can I really get there. time to just stop, listen to my heartbeat, and breathe.
