What if there is no god? What if there is a god but he/she/it/they are running a reality show and we get voted into heaven/hell based on our performance on earth?
No one knows. But as W. C. Fields (an athiest) said when he was caught reading a bible just before he died, "I'm looking for loopholes."

"I just thought that if God is Pure unconditional Love then all is already saved since birth"
you were half correct in there. However, it's not that "all is already saved since birth", instead, NO ONE has any sin the day s/he was born. I mean, how could you get sin when you hadn't done anything (yet) ?
And you misinterperate God's Pure Love here. What it means by "pure love" is that God has given you many things since the day you were born: your life, a loving mother, the opportunity to enjoy life, the pleasure when you have sex, etc.. etc... that's I think the real meaning of God's Pure Love.
And God only wants one thing from you: "surrender". It means you have to "worship" Him someway, because from what's written in holy books, He will put everyone who obeyed him into heaven, and the rest into hell.
Human start "gaining" sins through their life, that's when we need God's forgiveness.
I know it sounds so lame when you read this. We have been living in communities where God is considered as absurd. I'd ever have that kind of thinking too, but then, if God doesn't exist, why are we living right now? (a classic question which don't have any certain answer yet, even Charles Darwin wasn't sure with his answer)

Maybe you should go back & read Genesis, especially chapter three. God did create man sinless. Man CHOSE sin. Pure love implies love that has no ulterior motive, that requires nothing in return. What does that have to do with justice? Do you not believe that even the best parent would discipline a child, so that it would learn? And if the child refuses to learn, the Parent does not stop loving the child. It grieves our Heavenly Father more than we can comprehend to see us choose sin over salvation.
People have a view of hell which is really nothing compared to what hell is actually like. That is because our Loving Father knew we could not comprehend the actuality. And this is a place to which people willingly choose to go. God does not come down in a cloud & cast poor, innocent victims into hell because He is mad at them. This is a choice people make on their own. If you put your hand to a flame, you will be burned. Yet ppeople, knowing this, willingly put their hand in a flame evry single day. So it is with hell. God said that if one chooses to live without Him, then they will. To live without God is the worst hell imaginable. But people knowingly make this choice every day. How can you blame God for that?
Oh, well, you'll believe what you want to, anyway. Good luck on that 'no hell' thing.

Most defenitely!
God is a God of love but He also is a God of justice.
This is the same question which satan threw at Him.
The reason the human race was brought into being.
How can a loving God cast His creatures into a lake of fire?
God can't love in a way which is inconsistent with the other attributes of His character.
When satan went negative God had to make a decision compatable with His righteouseness and justice as well as His love.
God created man to show satan how a loving God could save a creature and maintain His righteousness.
God then created man and in His infinite grace provided all man would need along with setting up a test whereby mankind could use his free will.
Genesis2:17
This was to give man the option of choosing for or against God.
God doesn't coerse man's love or obedience man must apply his own free will.
Genesis 3:15 is man's only hope which is God's solution to the angelic conflict.
John3;16.
Take care!

a long time ago, we would think that mothers won't kill their newly borns, but let's face the truth - humanity has since degenerated to such a stage where we start to even doubt our own humanity.
so if God is like a parent to us, and He sees us like this, how do you think He will feel? How does He like us killing each other every other day? Do good parents ground their children for disciplining them when their children have misbehaved? Then why are we privileged now to avoid such disciplinary actions if we have done something wrong?
Everything in life has a balance - just as there is Life and Death, there is Good and Evil, Male and Female, Optimism and Pessimism, Happiness and Sorrow, etc ... so Heaven and Hell shouldnt really be so surprising.
Lastly, do remember God didnt create Hell to put us in there ... we have a choice, if we have to go to Hell, it is because we made that choice, and not because of God's condemnation. God never condemned us, we did it to ourselves ...

It all depends on how you interpret Heaven, Hell, Purgatory, God, Sin and Salvation.
First, God has nothing to do with the consequences we experience in life. We make our moves and its only right that we reap something out of it-----good or bad.
Second, What is explained in the Bible should only serve as an inspiration to us. Not to be taken literally. There's a realistic meaning in all the teaching of the Bible that we can actually associate with the present.
Third---Salvation--- as long as you follow the ways of Jesus (righteousness and unconditional love) its like you have already saved your soul. Doing righteousness keeps you away from pain (hell/ or eternal flame). Sin equals death (or realistically a miserable life).
Hope I proved a point.

I thought the same, but I don't think of hell as eternal or punishment either. Lets say the "sin" has a soul corruption aspect to it. That when a soul becomes to corrupt ( Murderer, rapists, bigits ) that it can't be left with good souls. Would you really want a rapist or murderer sharing you ever after? The hell thing mentions fire, so lets say that fire burns the sin off of the soul. The eternity thing would be your last choice, either take the pain and possibly loose everything about who you are ( like the fire resets your entire self back to a child ), or stay in your cell. Hard choice, but if you could avoid that type of choice would you not want salvation? The salvation thing is for those types of sinners in my belief, not your avg think naughty thoughts or what not type of person. If your a good person, then your not coated in that sticky "sin" residue and shouldn't have to worry about hell situations.

(This is my first thought about your question)
Well in any Bible they say He/She (it) is pure unconditional love.
So yeah I guess you're right.
But wouldn't it be funny if Heaven was Hell to most people.
Think about it. Are YOU going to be you in Heaven?
Do you have bad thoughts? There are no bad thoughts in Heaven.
So how can you (the real you) be you in Heaven..?.... sounds like Hell to me...!
LOL You know I'm right.. it's funny though.
Yea I know, I know.
Their way around this answer is you don't want your bad thoughts. (but I do)
After they tell me the (all so) predictable answer.
I say I'm sure you can have good thoughts in Hell.
(This is my second thought)
I think our concept of God is misconstrued.
Because the idea of God has been put in layman terms.
People ask me if I believe in God.
I sometimes say yes, but not the way you do.
I have a higher understanding of God then most (maybe everyone).
No, it's not some special touchy feely thing.
The only way I can try and explain it is like this.
Worshiping God is like worshiping time, science, logic or emotions.
They all exist, but why would you worship time, science, logic or emotions.
Of-course the idea of God is more complicated to explain.
The idea that God is a being of any kind is a farce.

In case you're forgetting a few scenes in the Bible, God has a bit of a temper. He cast Adam & Eve out of paradise for eating an apple (well, really for disobeying his order), flooded the entire earth wiping everyone out but Noah's Ark at one point. He wanted to destroy Sodom & Gomorrah. & look at what he subjected his own son to (torture & death on the cross)! Look at how he lets many innocent people suffer?...I'd say God's love is conditional. Be good & obey Him, or else! Jesus was the forgiving one & He came to save us from sin.
Not that I'm anti-God. Yes he gets angry. He can also be loving & benevolent. I always thought of Jesus as the sweet, personable one & God as the intimidating one. He made us in his image so the emotions we have, must have come from Him.
As far as Hell goes, I think you would agree that not everyone is a child of God. Many turn away from him (or don't even know Him or have any interest in goodness) & choose evil. (You don't think nazis, serial killers etc should suffer eternal damnation for torturing & killing others? I don't think they deserve a spot in Heaven. Salvation is there for those who turn to God & ask forgiveness, but evil people usually are not remorseful & wouldn't repent their sins. So how could they be forgiven?)
Of course there is a Hell. There must be a Hell if there's a Heaven. Just as there is evil as well as good, night as well as day. One can't exist without its opposite.

Opinions vary, that's why there are theologians and scholars. You are talking of two things in your question. Hell is believed because the Bible says it is so and most Christians believe it is God's written word. Salvation or the act of being baptized to be saved is short lived by millions, you know to assure they will not go to Hell. I would think in the biblical days it meant a lot more to be a convicted follower of the Christ, so many died by their faith to prove their Christianity and rights. There are those that do not agree as most the Hell exist, for example the Jehovah's witnesses as well other things taken from the Bible. You have to determine what is right, take time to read and learn yourself. It comes down to faith and if you choose to follow or believe and your determination in accepting. Perhaps your conscious is bothering you now in seeking the truth.

How do you define salvation? Is it becoming a cult member, accepting Jesus Christ as your Saviour, adopting Islam?
Your query sounds as if you're questioning the Christian version of salvation. Personally, I don't believe in the Christian version of being "saved", as I'm not separated from All That Is - I'm just not paying attention at some times. Which is when I end up experiencing Hell, but right here on earth.
