The younger generation has it a lot tougher than we ever had! Consider that they're being fed the idea thats its OK for the government to watch you (A la Big Brother is cool and is a reality show!) and the younger generation has to deal with advancing technology, dieases that were unheard of 30 years ago?

Then, they're being raised in apartment buildings, they've never had to work on their own cars, or feed the livestock, or do anything outside?

Its more sad and tougher for them than you actually realize

Yes, yes, and again, YES. They have it way too easy these days. I could fill whole volumn og books. Sure there are a few things that are tougher. And half of that is created by todays "I want to be cool to my kids" adults. And the other politics. Some would mention the lost of innocence. Who created that? Scary adults. Everytime a story runs about some kid getting snatched or laid by an adult. It has everyones ear. And politicians have a rally point. When the reality, those incidents surely are not as prolific as kids dying from over drinking, street racing and gun violence. But most of those are discried but only with a weak voice. When I was in high school it was rare to see a kid in a new car, much less a sports coupe or a Hummer. They got the family car handed down to them. Not so today. People I know buy their kids new cars, and fancy ones to. Because their kid would not accept or drive a "mommobile" to school because it is "uncool" and no one else would be driving the left over family buggy. And I certainly can not remember any credit card companies tossing card at me or any other student. And when younger me and my friends had to work to have video game playing money. We did not have it at home free. And if I had the resources of the Net and computers like todays kids. I would have gotten no less than A minuses if that. They do not have to retype a whole paper to add something missed, or try to introduce it as an addendum. They do not even have to know grammer or spelling, the computer will do that for them also. That is just a tip of a BIG ICE BERG. They have it far better than what they lost.

Nope, they don't have it easy at all. Many times I think back on my life and compare it to the lives that today's youth have. Poor role models, for instance- kids often look up to gang members the same way I did to a respected schoolteacher. And the pressure to have sex and younger and younger ages- the old phrase "sweet 16 and never been kissed" might as well be changed to "sweet 16 and never been....[well, you know.]" Then there's the lack of discipline from parents- learning self-control as a kid will head off major trouble later on down the line.

Absolutely not. The world gets more complex and demanding as time goes by. Certainly there are fancier toys, access to information and other perks of being in the young generation but there are disadvantages. These kids miss out on space outdoors to rip and run, free time, fresh air, innocence. The rising obesity trend means poor health and more dependency on medication. Multi tasking means more demands on their time and attention. As a middle aged person, I feel these kids live in a pressure cooker these days.

No, I am from the younger generation and I don't agree. I find I constantly have pressure on me for various reasons. Unemployment is higher, houses cost way too much, girls really shouldn't go out by themselves at night....etc etc. No matter what generation you are from, times will always change. There are good and bad points from all era's. Don't blame us for advances in technology and so forth, that make our lives easier than yours.

Yes and no. As a parent of a younger generation i tried my best to give my children everything I didn't have. Consequently both my children grew up not really understanding the value of a dollar. My bad! One never finished her education and is living in less than stellar conditions with menial jobs. The other one outspent his income several times over and finds himself deep in debt. I made growing up easy for them but life has been hard on them both. They of course will make it eventually but it is a rough learning experience for both of them.
