I think e.) most likely out of all those BUT... His character probably wasn't good enough. You could be the best but many clubs wouldn't want you to ruin their image with your imature wild behaviours. There was a story i heard whilst he was still in Everton. He fouled member of his own team to get the ball, and the coach sent him off and ordered him straight to the dressing room. Rooney walked back and passed the over 16s training ground and when he was asked why he was walking their way, he told them he had been ordered to play with them because he was doing so well. He got away with it because he did good with them. I personally don't think he has changed. i know united fans who agree that he is reckless and a burden most of the times.
