Has anyone heard if Maxis and EA Games is going to release a Sims 3? If so what have you heard?

Yes, and it's in development. They started working on it soon after The Sims 2 (base game) was released. Actually, they also started Sims 2 not long after Sims 1 was released. A very dedicated bunch over at Maxis.
Maxis says that there's still a lot to do with The Sims 2, so they'll be focusing on more Expansion Packs for the immediate future. I wouldn't expect The Sims 3 to come out until 2009, at earliest.
And don't be fooled...there aren't any screenshots out yet. Anybody claiming they have TS3 screenshots are lying. Believe me, there's been plenty of them floating around The Sims 2 website.

all these add on packs are just a waste of time and money, why couldnt they just put all these on one disk and make everyone happy, i reckon in sims 3 it will have HD cuz thats the only real thing they can have cuz everything else has been done. Oh yeah also when the sims go to the loo or have a shower we should be able to see everything. More people will buy it then.

They will be releasing it, but not in the near future. Sims 2 pets is out now on playsation and computer though! It looks good

Let's hope that they make it better and fix every single bug and problem they had in Sims and Sims 2.

i heard there is, yes. Im not a great sims fan, but its fun to play when my internet is dead :P
