Why ask the meaning OF life? Rather, ask the meaning FOR life. There is quite a difference, you know. The meaning OF life may be found in the dictionary. The meaning FOR life is contained in the pages of the Bible. And it won't all fit on this small answer page! But I will tell you the plot - we are blessed, and life is definitely worth living, when you know what you're living FOR.

It's different for everyone. The meaning of my life would be measured by whatever effort I put into it in order to attain a certain outcome at the end of my life. The meaning of your life would be the same. It all depends on your personal perspective and whether you want to improve yourself or float through life like a leaf on the wind with no control over your destiny.

There's so many reasons, you just have to know where to look. When you ask this question to someone random they'll say to you,"We're only here to slave over what we're forced to do." That's pointless though, or there would be no reason to exist.
But for a fact, the reason why we're here is that we are to experience; emotions, education, life, responsibilities, religion, family, friendship, etc., but most importantly.......we are to learn from our mistakes.
If there were a God, we are like an experiment. We're basically like children. He gave us life, nurtured us, and showed us the right paths to take on our journey's. But in his own way, he's teaching us the way to live. We're learning how to experiment with our lives. We can choose to; live or die, marry or be single, be rich or poor, have children or no children, be the leader or the follower, love or hate, or even be a villain or a hero.
But it's pointless to ponder on this question. Because the answer is right under your nose, you just have to know how to find it.

Life is the characteristic state of organisms and individual cells. Properties common to the known organisms found on Earth (plants, animals, fungi, protists, archaea and bacteria) are that they are carbon-and-water-based, are cellular with complex organization, undergo metabolism, possess a capacity to grow, respond to stimuli, reproduce and, through natural selection, adapt in succeeding generations.

An entity with the above properties is considered to be organic life. However, not every definition of life considers all of these properties to be essential. For example, the capacity for descent with modification is often taken as the only essential property of life. This definition notably includes viruses, which do not qualify under narrower definitions as they are acellular and do not metabolise. Broader definitions of life may also include theoretical non-carbon-based life and other alternative biology.

The entire Earth contains about 75 billion tons of biomass (life), which lives within various environments within the biosphere.

Life is what you make of it.

Forrest Gump says - 'Life is a box of chocolates'. So what do you want it to be for yourself ?

Without being too cryptical, let's just say we are all here for certain reasons. Since we are already here, and the journey is finite, let us make the fullest use of it, to experience the full spectrum of it - not just the happiness, but the sorrow, the bitterness, the hatred and the forgiveness. In this way, at least we have no regrets when it is time for us to punch in our tickets.

"Life is a tale told by an idiot -- full of sound and fury, signifying nothing - Socrates"

Socrates said that "the unexamined life is not worth living". This may be true, but be very careful, because the over-examined life will also be found to be devoid of meaning, and not worth living either.

LOL thats a good question

there is no religion in the world that actually answers this question
they discuss the purpose of human life
but not the purpose of reality

one of the most famous spiritual teachers of all time was a man who lived in egypt quite some time ago called thoth, when he was asked this question he didnt answer, but rather raised his hands

the answer to this question is deceptively simple
the meaning-purpose of reality-life
is reality-life

there is no exterior purpose
it is self-fuffiling, and it is now in this exact moment the meaning and purpose of life-reality
this moment as it exists in its entireity is the meaning and purpose of life-reality

what is reality?
well there are many different descriptions of what we can see
the most apt descriptions in physics and quantum physics
paint a picture that reflects many of the origional and core teachings of all world religions
that this physical universe
is in fact consciousness
and that it is in fact a process of the evolution of consciousness into varying degress of complexity and diversity that is the nature of this reality

we are in fact the universe becoming aware of itself through us
this is not a philosophy it is a core product of our current state of scientific understanding

this leads on towards all sorts of religious and philisophical ideas
and the fact that it is the personal meaning of your life that is more important as it is what matters to you

essentially
the meaning and purpose of life
is life

what you take life to be is up to you
what life is, is something you can discover for yourself

Life is a spiritual "SCHOOL", your purpose is to express who you really are. the essence of your being is "unconditional love" and that is what gives life meaning.
