I would recommend to set and execute a restore point, what it does is that the computer returns computer settings and some other stuff to an earlier time as it never happened, just go to control panel and click on system restore and it'll ask you to set a date from where you want the system to restore from, good thing about it is that you don't loose any files or e-mails and it is completely reversible, so you can undo it if it doesn't work or you don't like it.

IE does not have any problems within the UK that I know of. Your question is a little vague, do you mean you cannot open up webpages that you want to view? Such an issue could be caused by a number of factors including your internet connection settings, IE settings, spyware/adware on your PC, corrupt IE or Windows files. I would suggest installing IE7, and if that does not work, try installing a different browser.

http://getfirefox.com is what IE 7 hoped to achieve. Too bad, IE is STILL a virus pipeline to the System Folder and Registry! And, again, still, the US CERT, and DHS recommend you run Firefox, instead... for everyone's safety and security.
