Question 2: In North America in the 1980s, there was a major move from rural areas to suburban areas, as the farm crisis drove many farmers into bankruptcy. There was also a major re-location of industry from the northern "Rust Belt" of the United States to lower-wage areas in the South. As this happened, northern cities lost population, while Southern cities grew.

Immigration began to be a big factor in population growth in the late 1980s, with Canada welcoming refugees from around the world and the United States accepting millions of Mexican and south Asian immigrants who were willing to take low-wage jobs that long-term residents did not want.

Well for 1. I would describe the socio-economics that drive people to live in cities (including the industrial revolution)

And for 2., I would describe migration, and how economics and war drive it. Where do you see mass numbers of people moving to and from, and why?
