Since all four of my grandparents immigrated separately from Greece to the United States via Ellis Island during the five-year period beginning in 1910, although they didn't know each other in the old country and didn't meet in their new homeland until after they had settled with their parents in Chicago, the two men before the age of 20 and the two women before the age of 15, I'll go with southern Europeans as a vestigial show of an old loyalty that has long since been replaced by a new and indivisible loyalty to the northern Americans.
